BURR RIDGE – Two more individuals, David Henderson and James McGlynn were inducted into CISCO’s Hall of Fame during its Feb. 6, 2026 Annual Meeting event. Both men solidify the Hall of Fame’s purpose: celebrating leaders whose impact spans decades.

David Henderson was recognized first for a lifetime of extraordinary leadership, service, and dedication to the Union construction industry.

CISCO Executive Director Dan Allen reflected on Henderson’s far-reaching influence. “Dave Henderson has touched a lot of people in the world, and this industry is a lot better because of him. I’d like to say I’m privileged to be one of them,” Allen said. He noted that many of the construction industry’s successes over the past several decades can be attributed to Henderson’s passion, initiative, and steady leadership — both visible and behind the scenes.

Underground Contractors Association (UCA) Executive Director Mike Wiedmaier echoed those sentiments, recalling that he first met Henderson in 1997 during their first year serving on the CISCO Board. Henderson would go on to serve three terms as CISCO Board President, earning widespread trust and respect. Wiedmaier emphasized that Henderson never simply “went through the motions,” but instead consistently took initiative — reaching out to associations, contractors, and partners to strengthen collaboration and move the industry forward. “Dave has always had my back — and he has all of your backs,” Wiedmaier said, describing his leadership as selfless and steadfast, Wiedmaier explained.

Great Lakes Construction Association (GLCA) Executive Vice President Tim Marabella highlighted Henderson’s extraordinary commitment of time and energy over nearly 30 years. From board meetings and legislative committees to Labor functions and lobbying efforts, Marabella joked that Henderson has probably devoted an estimated 5,000 hours advocating for policies and partnerships that benefit both Labor and Management while promoting Union construction. “You can’t teach what Dave can do,” Marabella remarked, praising the grace and dignity with which Henderson has carried out his responsibilities.

Henderson accepted the honor with humility and humor, admitting he was completely surprised. He quickly joked about the 5,000 hours referenced during Marabella’s presentation, saying he would take him up on the offer of “time and a half.”

Henderson reflected on his deep roots in the industry. Raised in a Union household, he represents a multi-generational commitment to organized Labor. With his son and daughter in attendance, he noted they are the third generation involved in the family company, Joseph J. Henderson & Son, Inc., which is celebrating 98 years in 2026 as a Union contractor, which drew applause from attendees.

Henderson spoke proudly of the Union construction industry’s unique ability to come together for the greater good, emphasizing the importance of promoting its strengths and career opportunities. He also expressed enthusiasm for continued outreach efforts, including working with Waukegan High School to connect students with meaningful pathways into the Union trades.

Henderson’s induction into CISCO’s Hall of Fame honors more than longevity. It recognizes a legacy defined by service, sacrifice, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the power of Union construction to strengthen families, businesses, and communities for generations to come.

James McGlynn, owner of McWilliams Electric Company, was also inducted into the CISCO Hall of Fame at its 2026 Annual Meeting, whose decades of leadership, service, and mentorship have left an enduring impact.

Introducing McGlynn for the prestigious honor, Electrical Contractors’ Association of the City of Chicago (ECA) Executive Vice President Mark Thomas described him as both a “giant in the construction industry” and a personal mentor. Thomas praised McGlynn as the rare leader who consistently gives of his time, knowledge, and judgment for the good of the entire industry — often placing the broader interests of Labor and Management above his own.

Throughout his career, McGlynn has held numerous leadership roles within the ECA and National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) at both the local and national levels. He served as ECA President (1995–1996), Vice President, Governor, Executive Committee member, and longtime chair of legislative and political action committees. Nationally, he has been active in NECA’s Government Affairs Committee, Political Leadership Council, and annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

His commitment to workforce development has been equally profound, co-chairing the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust for nearly three decades and serving on multiple Labor-Management and arbitration boards. His leadership has earned prestigious recognition, including NECA’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership Award (2019), ECA’s Leadership Award (2000), and the Electric Association’s Gold Medal Award (2010). His company – McWilliams Electric Company also received the Award of Merit for Lighting Excellence for its work on the John G. Shedd Aquarium.

Allen summarized McGlynn’s legacy, saying: “Jim McGlynn didn’t just build projects; he helped build people, partnerships, and strengthened the Union construction industry. It’s only fitting that he now takes his place in the CISCO Hall of Fame.”

In accepting the honor, McGlynn expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who worked alongside him over the years. He emphasized that while he has chaired committees and served in leadership roles, it is always the people doing the work within those committees who make the real difference.

Reflecting on CISCO’s early days in 1988 — when meetings were held in a modest 10-by-12-foot office — McGlynn recalled the vision of bringing Labor and Management together to accomplish more as partners. He marveled at how far CISCO has come and praised the momentum and growth CISCO continues to experience. McGlynn also encouraged others to step forward when opportunities arise. “If somebody gives you an opportunity — grab it. Get more involved. Step up. Make a difference,” he advised.

He reserved special praise for Allen, crediting his leadership with transforming CISCO’s reach and impact, and saying one of the best actions CISCO’s Board took was hiring Allen. McGlynn said Allen’s leadership has taken CISCO to new heights.
